Good Health.
Cannabis can help people lead happier and more creative lives. That’s why we’re in this industry.
“Years ago I was standing in line at a dispensary, waiting behind a woman my grandmother’s age. Like me, she was there for a serious medical issue. But the people working there were unable to provide her the information she needed. That was my ‘lightbulb moment’ — when I decided to create a dispensary where she could find quality cannabis and also the information and support she needed to use it safely and effectively, in a welcoming, non-judgemental environment.
Everything we do at The Apothecarium — from the products we select, to the training our staff receive, to the way we design our dispensaries — is intended to give her the experience she deserves. I know if we are meeting her needs, then we are probably meeting the needs of everyone who comes through our doors.”
The Apothecarium was founded by three first cousins and two family friends in San Francisco in 2011. On the West Coast, we have three dispensary locations in San Francisco (Castro, Marina and Soma), and one in Berkeley. On the East Coast, you can find us in Lodi, Maplewood, and Phillipsburg, New Jersey or Lancaster, Thorndale, Plymouth Meeting, Allentown, Bethlehem, and Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania.
Our dispensaries are known for emphasizing education and customer service for seniors, first-time dispensary visitors, and patients with serious medical conditions. We focus on providing our guests with in-depth, one-on-one consultations from highly trained cannabis consultants. We also provide free cannabis education events that are open to the public. Our flagship San Francisco Castro dispensary was named the best-designed dispensary in the country by Architectural Digest. Our guests may order their cannabis in our dispensaries or online for pickup or delivery.

We want our guests to have a great experience inside The Apothecarium — and to feel knowledgeable and empowered when they get home and use our products – especially newcomers.
Giving back is part of who we are. We donate hundreds of thousands of dollars to nonprofits that benefit the communities we serve.
Some of our guests are fighting for their lives. Others are simply looking for a healthier way to have fun. They all deserve respect, patience and a smile; our employees too!
We’re all learning about the power of cannabis. Our guests deserve to have their questions answered and our employees deserve ongoing training and opportunities for growth.
The Apothecarium was started by a family. Everyone who comes inside our dispensary is part of our family. Well-behaved leashed pets and service animals are welcomed. If an animal is making customers uncomfortable, we may ask you to take the animal outside.
Everyone is welcome at The Apothecarium without regard to who they are, who they love, what they believe, what they look like or where they come from.
Your opinion counts. Stand up and let us know if we can do better. We want to hear from you.
