Blog Cannabis and Influencers: What’s Legit to Believe?

These days, cannabis and influencers go together like acai bowls and Instagram filters. From attention-grabbing sponsored posts to low-key acknowledgments in viral TikToks, many influencers have declarations about their favorite strain or how weed has been life-altering. With all the buzz, separating the real from the overhyped can be challenging. So, how do you know what’s legit in the world of cannabis influencers? Let’s unpack this.

It’s important to remember that just because they talk about cannabis, not every influencer is an expert. Yes, some have actual experience and have done their due diligence on strains, effects, etc., but many are more motivated by the paycheck or complimentary products. This doesn’t mean the products are not suitable or worth your attention—just know that you could be seeing an endorsement fueled by a “paid partnership” more than a transparent review. The best way to determine an influencer’s cred is by looking for those who share personal practices with cannabis, taking the time to go into the science behind it, and talking openly about its effects, versus just posting a company’s image of the product.

Then there’s the complex part—misleading statements. Some influencers may claim that cannabis cures everything from anxiety to insomnia. News flash—weed doesn’t impact everyone in the same way. Yes, it can assist many people unwind, peace of mind, and concentration, but it’s not a one-size-fits-all. It’s important to focus on influencers who are transparent about the benefits as well as the limitations of cannabis, instead of endorsing it as a magic pill. If someone is preaching miracles, take it with a grain of salt and research it on your own.

Remember, cannabis influencers can be an excellent source of encouragement, but they aren’t the voices to take literally with every word they speak. Look for outlets in the community that are open and authentic and share full cannabis experience. If they’re factual and down-to-earth, you’ll know you’re getting legit and relatable info—not smoke and mirrors.
